Let’s go to
COLOMBIA

Here you’ll find all of the information you’ll need to book your travel and lodging in Colombia.

Whether you’re just hopping down for The Big Weekend, or making us part of a larger adventure, we’re just grateful to have you. Don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or to confirm any details. We are here to help!

Flying to Bogotá

You’ll be flying to the El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá.

We recommend arriving on Thursday, July 31, and spending a night in Bogotá. If that isn’t possible, you’ll want to take the first flight on the morning of Friday, August 1.

Shuttles to
Villa de Leyva

Good news! We’ve already arranged for shuttles to take guests from Bogotá to Villa de Leyva on Friday, August 1 at both 9am and 1pm.

The 9am shuttle will depart from the B.O.G. hotel, where we’ll be staying the night before. The 1pm shuttle will be leaving from the airport.

Private transportation is available for anyone who can’t make the shuttle, or who needs special service. Contact us for details. We - in the strongest terms possible - do not recommend driving yourself.

A Note on Travel Time

Getting through Bogotá is…tricky, to put it mildly. So the journey will last between 3 and 4 hours, but includes a gorgeous drive through a scenic and historic stretch of the Andes Mountains, as well as a snack and restroom break.

Hotels in Villa de Leyva

The Hotel Plazuela de San Agustín will serve as our central meeting hub, and the location of the Farewell Brunch on Sunday. The grooms and their wedding party will be occupying the available rooms there. Here are some recommendations of where else to stay nearby!

Check-in Friday, August 1. Check-out Sunday, August 3.

La Casa del Árbol

A charming boutique hotel located just next door to our place. Highly recommended for being close to the action.

Casa Alcestre

A gorgeous hotel situated in the iconic plaza. (Its proximity to the square means that the nights can be a bit noisy, however.)

Airbnb

There are a lot of great Airbnb options nearby. In fact, we have a great connection in town. So hit us up, and we’ll hook you up. Don’t be shy!

Returning home

Return shuttles to Bogotá will depart Villa de Leyva on Sunday, August 3 at both 10am and 2pm.

The 10am shuttle will go directly to the Bogotá Airport. If you plan on flying out that day, make sure you prepare for a 4 hour ride to the airport, and have enough time to check-in for your flight. We recommend only booking flights after 5pm.

The 2pm shuttle will depart from the Farewell Brunch, and return us to the B.O.G. Hotel for one more night in Bogotá before we fly out on Monday. When booking your flights for Monday, expect a one-hour ride to the airport from your hotel, to account for unpredictable traffic.

Then what?

The wedding may be over, but your party doesn’t need to end in Bogotá! If you’re wanting to take full advantage of this time abroad, here are some suggestions for what you could do next…

  • Continue relaxing in Villa de Leyva and touring its neighboring towns and landmarks. Arrange for private transport back to Bogotá when you’re ready.

  • Take the opportunity to travel from Bogotá to one of Colombia’s other famous cities, like tropical Cartagena or swanky Medellin.

  • Leapfrog to other parts of South America, if you’re feeling bold.
